advice cleaning slippers

Did you get some good use out of your slippers this Fall and Winter?  With the coldest months behind us (we hope!), your slippers are probably due for a good cleaning!  But maybe you are a little nervous about cleaning you and your pups favorite pair?  Whether you prefer the wool slippers or a soft shearling pair, here’s a little info to help you out…

For your felt wool slippers:

  • Blot with the water a few times
  • Blot to dry - let air dry the rest of the way
  • Apply Cork Seal to exposed cork (non shiny)

NOTES:

  • Avoid too much moisture, heat, soap, and friction on your wool

Our soft and comfy Sorel slippers.  This pair features:

  • Soft suede upper
  • Wool and acrylic collars – provide breathable, insulating, and moisture-wicking performance
  • Natural rubber sole for durability
  • Soft shearling for warmth
  • EVA foam insoles

For your suede and shearling slippers:

Needed:

  • Warm water or Lincoln E-Z Clean
  • Brush made of brass, nylon, or nubuck
  • Suede cleaning eraser or suede stone

Wash the suede leather exterior:

  • Do not use soap – clean with a damp, soft cloth
  • Air dry in a protected space
  • Spot-clean with the brush
  • Use suede eraser or stone to remove scuff marks and dirt

Hand wash the faux sheepskin interior:

DO NOT MACHINE WASH

  • Test a small area of the slipper with a small amount of shampoo
  • Gently scrub the slipper with a soft cloth or soft brush
  • Rinse thoroughly
  • Wrap slippers in a towel and pat dry
  • Let slippers air dry

NOTES:

  • For your suede portions, use a water-based weather protector to protect them from dirt, water, and stains.

And for those who don’t want to go through the hassle of worrying, just want to throw those slippers in the wash?  We’ve got a little something for you- our Giesweinn brand!
