Summer Vacation

Summer is here, and we have vacation on our minds!

That being said, packing is one of the dreadful tasks associated with any great trip – whether it’s a camping trip or a European adventure, packing is involved.  And planning what you are bringing is #1.  At the top of your priority list should be what shoes you are bringing.  We aren’t saying this in the context of Carrie Bradshaw (crazy shoes and over-the-top hats) - what shoes go with what outfit? When all is said and done, it won’t matter what they go with, as long as there aren’t blisters, pain, stiffness, etc.

Hiking through easy trails? May we suggest Merrell Capra for women and the Merrell Moab for men?  These lighter weight shoes are worn as an everyday shoe, and essential in an easier hike.

~provides stability and shock resistant
~waterproof and odor control (yes, thank you!)

Maybe throwing on the pack and going in further, for more of an expert hiking trip?  The Ahnu Coburn in men’s and Montara in women’s will keep your feet on the ground and ankles stable on the uneven terrain.

~Toe protector on the front
~Gusseted tongue to help keep water and debris out
~Waterproof and breathable
~Technology engineered to center and guide the foot to promote balance when traversing trails

Maybe sand, the ocean, and some relaxation is more your speed this summer?  We are saying Olukai for both men and women.  From the flip flops to keep your feet off the hot sand, to a slip-on for the casual days perusing shops and local sights.

~Rubber traction
~Leather straps
~Contoured foot beds
~Arch support

And pack along a pair of Teva for the longer walks…

~Contoured foot bed
~Shock pads
~adjustable straps

For those traveling abroad, with many miles to be walked, we carry:

~Pikolinos
~Ahnu
~Merrell
~Chaco
~Teva

All fantastic for comfort and style.  For these trips, especially, choosing the right shoe is essential.  You will want to come in to talk with one of us in the store, we will have some great suggestions for you.  And then trying those shoes on; making sure they aren’t too tight, too lose, and there is no pain, is key.  Finally, be sure you break in the shoe before you travel, to avoid any surprises.
